AN EYE FOR AN EYE : Which Way NIGERIA

AN EYE FOR AN EYE; Which Way NIGERIA
It is stale to list the enormous challenges facing this nation. Any Nigerian still hovers on that, praying and hoping for a miracle or the unusual which would end this engulfed calamity. Well! If that alone has been the main issue, it would rather had met a plausible solution sooner or later. Nevertheless! The precarious perspective of those who pilot the political affairs of this democratic dispensation seems to be the major challenge.
Hypothetically, the outer phase of Nigeria’s problems is said to be the provision of the necessities needed for livelihood. As sumptuous as this might be, the major and most difficult challenge is the abstract; which is LEADERSHIP.
It is said that when the purpose of a thing is unknown abuse is inevitable, which translates that abuse would be unseen if the purpose of such thing is known, this paradigm is irrelevant to the Nigerian case. The rule is there but the rulers neglect the rule. Every dick and harry knows that the purpose of a democratic government is to ensure that her citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy. It is however unfortunate that this is only a dream and it is yet to be a reality.
It is not difficult to achieve a thing if the purpose is clear but the Nigerian case is always complex even in the midst of simple tasks. Every political office holder knows the purpose of been in office, there election manifestoes are proofs. But there is a swift difference when they have the power to when they are yet to get that power. They tend to forget the promises and aspirations they make before getting on the political seat, immediately they get to that seat, their perception of things changes instantly. It has happened, it is happening and it should not be allowed to happen again or else it would continue to happen.
So, it can be inferred that the Nigerian syndrome is complex but simple.
Dear reader, the challenges of this country is not much, the political officers only chose to make it look big for the political-selfish-benefits. The country is in a state of dismal, no sector is working, the environment is not fit for job creation, millions of graduates are largely unemployed, roads are terribly bad, electricity situation continues to worsen everyday, corruption rises per second, yet the government claims to be working. Are you not worried that the past heads both at the state and federal level always have a word for every situation? they spend billions of resources without impact on the public but their personal pockets, the billions of naira spent during the 8th year rule of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo for electrification is unaccounted for, or maybe it has hit the walls of a poultry.
Even at the state level, the case of some workers in some states is synonymous to the Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s popular hit ‘Suffering and Smiling’, oh what a pity! Bamboo dey work, Monkey dey chop. Some governments are so good at implementing policy aimed at slaughtering their worker’s pay. As a matter of fact, minimum wage interference and tax overcharges are successful techniques used by such governments to eat-up their workers all in the name of developmental projects which are contestable.
No one is against developmental project or ideas of a government, but the simple question to an average man is should I suffer because I want to build roads? What is the essence of such roads when I have no job and no food to eat? Will I eat road? What happens to other grants and federal government cut of income to the state?. This questions the integrity of such governments, at least there are other state governments with fairer income generation techniques, yet, they build roads, standardized and quality education for all (not some free book distribution centres and unnecessary media hype) and many developmental project without having to strain their workers but based their expenditures on some other measures. Little wonder why such groups fail in a recent election.
Dear reader, politicians seems to have played the demo-gods thing. It is time to change the rule, he who plays the piper calls the tune. The government is made for the masses by the masses, not for some ‘Jag-hole’, ‘Owu-slave’ nor some rebellious ruler flaunting on choppers around with state stolen wealth.
The story of an eye for an eye has only but one lesson ‘pay back’. Dear reader, let those in power do as they wish, and let us all watch, and the time shall come as ordained for each of them, you and I shall be the tool to judge them in terms of all they have given to the society, all will get their reward, give back to those that have performed without influence, but to those who have failed or are complicated in their case would be kick out of office. The time is near, the time is soon, watch with your eyes wide open, and when the time shall come, it must be
AN EYE FOR AN EYE
